Statement
My Work focuses on representing certain aspects of the human condition, Society and the World. The work aims to reassert the relevancy of Painting within the Art market and Society, believing that the language of Painting can help us in the ‘comprehension and understanding of our Worlds’ Goodman.
My latest Work Series One aims to represent and reflect the complex and fluid nature of the human condition and technological landscape which we inhabit. We have created a density of information and technology that has never before been seen, the techno saturated landscape has altered how we live forever, the World as we know it has become technologically Globalised.
Our man-made networks of communication and commerce continue to become more complex as they grow, overlap, intertwine, disappear, re-emerge and constantly change. The Internet has become the largest mass of information ever formed by mankind and it continues to expand; seemingly forever. It creates a unique insight into the thoughts of the masses that are placed on a page, read, digested, altered and interpreted and re-imagined.
It is the human condition that shapes the World, and creates moments of substance and purpose that strives for enlivenment of thought and existence. It is these rare moments placed within their wider framework that I concern myself with representing; in the hope to expand my own ‘comprehension and understanding’ of the human condition and consequently further my understanding of the World.
My paintings are defined by their completely abstract manner. Abstraction for me has been a critical choice and a direct reaction to my the cultural and ethical conditions of recent years as the World seems to have fallen into a chaotic self destructive pattern. Abstract painting is presently the most appropriate way in which to translate my thoughts and ideas into the visual language. The saturation and overlaying colours of lines and forms aim to reflect the heavy density of information, social and emotional interactions that constantly occur within our Society.
